EU Innovation Forums

Forum 1 - Laser Additive Manufacturing (LAM) in Aeronautics and
Power Generation
In the EU Innovation Forum LAM, an intensive exchange of experience will take place between technology vendors from the laser branch and technology users from the aviation industry and energy technology. Specifically, this EU Innovation Forum is concentrated on laser manufacturing engineering in turbine construction. Current R&D results from EU-sponsored joint projects are incorporated into the lectures. Application fields are the production of components in the aviation and energy sectors as well as their maintenance, repair and overhaul. At the end, the participants can convince themselves of the new developments at the live demonstrations in the application center of the Fraunhofer ILT.
Forum 2 - Perspectives of Polymer Welding with Lasers
The joining of plastics with laser has many advantages regarding quality, flexibility and productivity. This technology has constantly been refined. In the EU-supported project POLYBRIGHT, the limits of what is possible are being shifted systematically by the appli- cation of tailor-made laser beam sources. The practical results of the R&D project - consisting of 19 partners from 7 countries - will be presented to interested manufacturing technologists, materials experts, designer and developers. A ´must´ for all users who want to keep up-to-date with this technology.
